Water colour artist Rod Cross

Rod Cross is a self taught watercolour artist from Metung on the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria. He has been painting seriously since mid 2014 after retiring from nearly 40 years in the signwriting industry in Sale, Victoria, where he was born.

As the industry became more computerized, Rod became less interested and couldn’t wait to get back on the brush. His lifelong passion for wooden boats is evident in his artwork, specialising in painting these beautiful craft in their natural environment.

Rod has completed and has orders for paintings commissioned by several delighted boat owners.

All of Rod’s works are produced on 300 gsm watercolour paper and he only uses the highest quality paints available.

In 1999-2000 Rod produced a successful run of prints of historic steam powered boats that cruised the Gippsland Lakes before the 1930’s. These prints are still available.
